Sandy Ridge Project
I was initially employed to transform my clients daughters den area in their home but as is often the case, the job expanded to include their living room and full conversion of their garage. Due to their profession they are often away staying in hotels and so had been inspired to create a room in their home specifically for entertaining, listening to music, spending time as a family and relaxing. They are avid music fans, love a turntable and have an extensive album collection. The brief was to create a cosy ‘den’ feel incorporating depth of colour, warm materials, soft lighting , a bar area, pool table and an area for a turntable and display for their album collection.
All building work was undertaken to include full rip out, knocking through to their existing living room, stud work, levelling of the floor, underfloor heating, reallocation of gas metre, plumbing and electrical work, full decoration and fitting of a herringbone engineered walnut floor.
The space itself has to work hard and so planning the layout and including everything on their wish list was paramount. I used the area below the staircase to include storage, wine fridge and open display within the joinery designs and featured bespoke 3d panelling to clad the staircase entirely and as a feature on the front and back of the bar area.
When we crossed the finish line, did a final site clean and handed the space back to Sarah & Barry, their appreciation and love for the space was wonderful to see. There’s absolutely no need for them to leave the house again! and as you look at the garage doors from the front of the property you have absolutely no idea of what they are concealing.
This has been one of my favourite projects to date and i am enormously proud of what’s been created for this family.
